We are pleased to announce another Outstanding Evaluation that we recently received for the successful completion of three 3-story new barracks facilities at Hunter Army Air Field, Savannah, GA. The $23 million design-build project completed for the Savannah Corps of Engineers included a combined 70,000sf. Similar to our recently completed barracks project at Ft. Stewart, this project incorporated a prefabricated modular wall panel system to accommodate the aggressive project schedule. The project was designed and built to achieve a Silver LEED certification. The project included over 143,000 work hours with no lost time accidents. This is one of the first NEW barracks building projects that we have performed. Thank you to all on the Sauer Team who worked on this project to exceed our customer's expectations!
- Congratulations to the entire team at MacDill Air Force Base Projects! Sauer has won the third quarter "Celebrate Safety" large (between 7 million and 50 million dollars) contractor award given out by the Mobile District Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). There were nine companies competing for the large category award.
- Sauer's team at Ft. Stewart (Savannah, GA) received an Outstanding Performance Evaluation for our successful completion of a 135,000 sf three-story apartment style barracks building. This was a $20 million design-build project that meets the requirement of LEED Silver. We took the opportunity to utilize a prefab steel frame/ concrete face customer’s aggressive schedule, which was a first such installation for the Army Corps of Engineers on the East Coast. We also compiled 175,000 work hours with zero lost time accidents, which greatly contributed to us receiving a Ft. Stewart Quarterly Safety award. Congratulations to all on our project team!
- Sauer received Outstanding Evaluation from the Navy for the successful completion of the $14 million Consolidated Academic Facility at Marine Corps Base, Camp LeJeune, NC. This was a design-build project of a 58,000 sf, multi-story instructional facility. The Navy was particularly impressed with our proactive management, supervision, and quality control, citing our outstanding communications in dealing with a difficult Customer. Thank you to all of our personnel who worked on this project!

Sauer recently received two safety awards from the Navy in the Mid-Atlantic region. The “Safety Excellence” certificates were presented by NAVFAC MIDLANT in Norfolk and Naval District Washington in DC. Such awards are extremely valuable in helping Sauer continue to pursue work under best value source selection projects and programs. Congratulations Team!
- Sauer received an Outstanding Evaluation for the successful completion of the Hangar 1000 Renovation at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. This was a $42 million design-build project to renovate the 422,000 square foot hangar. Although the project lasted four years, the schedule was actually quite aggressive considering the 12 phases we had to accomplish in order to satisfy the needs of the four squadrons located in the hangar, with work being performed while on their individual deployments. Some of the Customer comments included: “Worked closely with Government personnel to identify potential problems and resolve them before they became critical to the project’s completion,” “Coordination of subcontractors was superb,” “Overall this was an outstanding project that exceeded every expectation that the Government had for it” and “This was a superbly smooth project that is a positive reflection upon Sauer.”
Sauer’s Wellness Committee organized a very successful USO Holiday Donation Motivation Drive this year. We were able to donate tons of toys, household goods and food to the US troops and their families. Contributions came from the Ft. Bragg, Pax River/Virginia, Ft. Benning, Belle Chasse and MacDill AFB jobsites, as well as the Jacksonville Main Office. Additionally, Sauer has pledged to donate $25 per contribution to the USO for a total of $2,650 in addition to the contributions made by the Sauer employees!

The work will be done at Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina, which is the Corps’ primary helicopter base on the East Coast. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2010.
